COOL-CAROL

" feel like singin'...err carolin' darrlin'..."

......Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos...

....And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you...
FFA-LALALALA LA LA LA LA... LA !!!.

TRIVIA : Chestnuts roasting on an open fire is definitively called the Christmas Song. The lovely music and lyrics were composed by Torme and Wells in 1946. The most popular recording of this truly great Christmas song, Chestnuts roasting on an open fire was recorded by Nat King Cole. The strong imagery in the words to this Christmas song are also complimented by such sentiments as reflected in one of its lines "from kids from from one to ninety-two" which encompass the essence of the family Christmas. The notion that a traditional Christmas should be white is also profligated in the lyric of this Christmas song, Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Click HERE for the complete lyrics..
At the end of last century, there were an estimated 117,000 Eskimo's living in Greenland, Denmark, Alaska, Canada and Siberia. Eskimos are called different names depending on where they live. In Alaska they can be called either Eskimo or Inuit, in Canada they are called Inuit and in Greenland they are known as Kalaadlit. Their similar languages, characteristics and cultures link these communities. Eskimo were thought to be related to American Indians, but it is now known that they originally came from Asia. Scientists worked this out from their blood type and their small hands and feet, which is a predominant trait in Asian countries. Blood type is hereditary, that means it is passed on through your family, and all Eskimo have blood type B.Eskimo culture was completely adapted to the cold Arctic conditions and harsh winters with temperatures around minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit and only a glimmer of sunlight at dawn and dusk. Eskimo have only one word for snow and that is aput, but they have many words to describe the type of snow such a powdery or compacted... - via Silkhouse.co.UK

  9. Those pictures made me happy. Especially since we're having unseasonably warm weather this week and that depresses me. I have opposite S.A.D. - I LIKE when it's cold and gray! It's supposed to cool back down this weekend, thank God because I can't handle a warm Christmas. That's why I moved away from Florida.

  21. Such a beautiful collection of photos. I do not deal very well with the cold but I definitely have to go to one of those hotels made of ice at least once in my life....

  22. Another gorgeous collection of images! My husband just got a new coat with a faux fur-trimmed hood and we were wondering about the history of fur trim. Looking at these photos, I'm betting hoods used to be entirely lined with fur and some would peek out ... then folks realized it'd be cheaper to just rim the hood with fuzz!

  31. Wow, I didn't know that all Eskimos have blood type B! I also read somewhere that they do not like to be called Eskimos, as that in their language means 'raw meat eater' while Inuit means 'human'. And fish skin boots - I think I've never seen anything of the likes!
