...Anyone watched this funny movie clip before?
It's from the 1992 'Mr Baseball' starring Tom Selleck.
Yes, the Japanese do slurp their noodles here, but keep in mind...
this Hollywood clip exaggerates it of course, for more dramatic effect!
Anywayyy...
My colleagues here in Tokyo, took me to this Noodle Place for lunch recently.
I had the delicious Japanese noodle/Ramen in Miso base soup.
Yup, it's so true...I heard a lot of slurping going on in that tiny noodle place!
From what I was told, slurping is really encouraged here in Japan.
It is actually a good sign for how much you appreciate and enjoy the food.

A bowl of hot noodle was a perfect meal
on a cold winter day...so comforting ~YUM!

ReplyDeleteWould you believe it, I've only had Chinese food before, never Japanese. I've wanted to go to some of the places that serve Japanese food, but I have never been...
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'm sure it tastes even better from its place of origin, haha.
Great fun! And I really love Japanese food, but mostly sushi. Aww, how much I love sushi!

I totally remember seeing this movie as a little girl and being so excited that I could slurp to my heart's content. All that food looks incredible.

ReplyDeleteAlways so interesting to learn about other cultures.
Oh, u made me want to eat Ramen now! let's slurpinggg...
ReplyDeleteYummmmmmmmmmmmm, I can smell that from here!
ReplyDeleteMy kind of place! I'd slurrrrp with the best of them :)
ReplyDeleteFor the sake of the common Japanese, I say the way he slurrrrps is too energetic! Is he going to inhale all the surroundings with nurdles?! Funny!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed the Ramen shop. They should add the English explanation just below the Japanese menu so that non-Japanese visitors can tell what ingredients make up each ramen.
Have a nice Christmas Eve!
