~Banana Leaf that is!
Banana leaves serve many purposes in Asian cooking, from adding flavor or using them to wrap just as we would tin foil or parchment paper... Certainly add a colorful & exotic background for serving delicious dishes/platters.[to find out more click here]. Anyway, I think the 'funnest' part is eating on Banana Leaf! The 'Exotica Level' has just gone up a few notches!

Lenore, the food looks so delicious and healthy. Oliver was just asking if we could get a banana tree???I don't know in NJ, but you are right maybe it can survive indoors in the Winter..it would look great.

only animal farm; goats eat the leaves~ but again goats eat almost anything, saw them eating plastic bag when I was in India before! what?!!!

ReplyDeleteI love bananas. And I love banana leaves. I've seen them used in some Puerto Rican dishes, but I'd love to know if there are ways to incorporate them so they could be eaten too...

ReplyDeleteOh my, those foodie pics had my mouth watering. I do miss Asian cuisine a lot, especially the more simple dishes that use ingredients you can't get here. I adore any leaf dishes actually. I think many people think the banana leaf is just show, but it does give a lot of flavor.

ReplyDeleteThat scrummy food looks so good! Funnily enough we don't have much cuisine from Singapore in Sydney - it really looks wonderful and different to Thai, Japanese etc I don't think you'll have any trouble having a banana tree - they are very good at growing anywhere!
