Going Banana*

~Banana Leaf that is!
Banana leaves serve many purposes in Asian cooking, from adding flavor or using them to wrap just as we would tin foil or parchment paper... Certainly add a colorful & exotic background for serving delicious dishes/platters.[to find out more click here]. Anyway, I think the 'funnest' part is eating on Banana Leaf! The 'Exotica Level' has just gone up a few notches!
~Take a look at some delicious goodness
found around Singapore:
.

When I fly back home,
I ought to find out more from my local plant nursery.
Would certainly love to get a banana tree for myself...
I'm sure I can keep it indoor by the sunny window?!
~So inspired to have a touch of tropical-exotica in
my own living space somehow...
.
I'm pretty sure I'd find some more
creative use from
this tropical & versatile plant! ~yesss...
.

  1. If I had to live on a deserted island and chose just one food for the rest of my life (man, that would be one funky island), it would be something from that area of the world, definitely....it's only 6:26am here and your photos are already making me hungry - btw: did you know a banana plant is an annual? oxox kisses, darlink..AJ

  27. Hey Lenorenevermore - Thanks for sharing your adventures in Singapore. So exciting, especially the glorious food! But that architecture is pretty darn stupendous in itself. Hey, I have a huge banana plant in a pot & decided to bring it indoors. It's been several months now & all good.

Hope you get some time to live it up my friend & don't eat anything with a face :D love ya

  30. I love bananas. And I love banana leaves. I've seen them used in some Puerto Rican dishes, but I'd love to know if there are ways to incorporate them so they could be eaten too...

  33. Oh my, those foodie pics had my mouth watering. I do miss Asian cuisine a lot, especially the more simple dishes that use ingredients you can't get here. I adore any leaf dishes actually. I think many people think the banana leaf is just show, but it does give a lot of flavor.

Hope you had a lovely Chinese New Year in Singapore!

  37. That scrummy food looks so good! Funnily enough we don't have much cuisine from Singapore in Sydney - it really looks wonderful and different to Thai, Japanese etc I don't think you'll have any trouble having a banana tree - they are very good at growing anywhere!

  38. I have to admit, I just googled if one can actually eat a banana leaf.... I have never had anything served with one before. I am truly missing out in life :)
