Old & New

Very impressive gleaming skyline, isn't it?
Singapore is still growing at a rapid pace...
Each time I visit this country, a new modern skyscraper is
seemingly being erected from the ground up!
With that being said, my eyes are still drawn to
the old world charm of Singapore, still found around Emerald Hills...
~take a look :
.
I could actually spend more hours just strolling & looking at
all the beautiful details of these old Peranakan houses.
* CHARM-ed *
Hope this country would continue to preserve & cherish these historical treasures!
.
~XOXO*

Great pics this morning L. Here in Boston we pride ourselves on having a little old/new mixture, but a place like Singapore kind of puts the lie to that.

That skyline is incredible but I agree that the old is too special to let go. So completely charming and gorgeous. I hope it stays.

What a city! It seemingly offers the best of the old and the new. Thank you for more great shots, Lenore!

It's so cool you got to go there. May I ask what line of work you're in?

I love the older parts of any big country... thank you for sharing, because when I go to Singapore, THAT is where I'd like to hang out. Just like when you're in London and you drive out to Avebury & Bath... it's like stepping back in time! I want to be transported!

Old Singapore is just wonderful. It was a shame in the mid eighties when they tore a lot of it down like Bugis Street only to see the arror of their ways.

Wow, the contrast is striking! One would hardly think they were looking at pictures of the same city! That seems to be a common theme with developing countries though--expansive, aggressive development mixed with old world tradition. I'd love to visit someday..

Wait--is Singapore the place where you can get arrested for littering?

LenoreNeverM♡re said...

Style Porn,
not arrested, but hefty FINE!
vandalism, yes~thrown to jail!
