...waiting to exhale~

[Click on above image to enlarge]
ahhhhh.....quite a perfect view, for me at least!
yup, after too much rain pouring on my zipcode!

The dry desert sand & warm golden sunset
never looked this sexy...
if you know what I mean~ehem*
The above could be one of my favorite scenes from the great 1962 classic, "Lawrence of Arabia" one of the most brilliant piece of film making! There are certainly too many gorgeous+genius shots to praise (after all it's a 4-hour long film!) and the mirage sequence could be the most famous I think; in which a human figure begins as a tiny speck, but then rides ever so closer on a camel with no music...only haunting dramatic silence! But my favorite[click here to watch]: when Lawrence is just granted a chance to locate the Prince in hopes of learning more about the intentions of the natives...well, he stares at a lighted match, exhales so gently, and suddenly the camera switches* to a beautiful sunset in the Arabian DRY desert scene...~ahhh yesssss...exhale

Beautifully described.
Sad to say never watched it all the way through.

I agree, it's a gorgeous film, and a young Peter O'Toole is deelish.

Fabulous film, I watched it with middle chap very recently from beginning to end, he was enthralled. I feel warm just thinking about it now....

Beautiful images. These look so appealing to me right now too. Enough of the rain and flooding! I feel just awful for you, hope that you guys have been able save most of your stuff. We're lucky to be on a hill and haven't had any problems, but some friends of mine just renovated their basement then it flooded for the first time since they've lived there (for about 12 years).

Ahhh...I'm intrigued and enticed to view this classic movie due to your compelling description.

I'm glad you're not dwelling on your wet feet but are looking for enjoyment elsewhere.

That proves your great resiliency!

A beautiful view and I agree.. that's one of the best moments of the movie! Although I'm sure the magic disappears once you're attacked by killer scorpions ;-) But the most beautiful thing about the desert is getting a full view of the stars at night...

We watched this movie a number of years ago (on widescreen, of course) because we had never seen it and it won best picture the year my husband was born. (Mine's "West Side Story").

It is really spectacular in every sense of the word, isn't it? And wow! Those clear blue eyes of O'Toole are just like an oasis in the desert, aren't they?

Luv,
Kat

David Lean and Peter O'Tool and Omar's finest hour for sure! That scene when Omar is a dot on the horizon and you just sit there and watch as he gets bigger and bigger - pure magic - totally agree! Now to check out your fave scene - thank you!! XOXO's
