Admire Piero Lissoni showroom display at the recent IDS12
.
What a unique artful way to display books!
They had the book covers removed and the book-spines facing inwards or
sideways, so all we see are the book pages instead of the book titles.
errr...this might not be the most practical way to keep our books, but
certainly adds warm texture & interesting character to the room.

Very interesting- I have never seen this style so points for uniqueness but fail for organization!
I keep my books color coded and even that was a big step for me since they were well organized by subject and author prior to the color coordination.
You can see my book shelf here:

Luv that color-coded idea~
visual delight, Ren!
Visually nice LNM.
But I'm confused enough already.
Flip your books! Aha, funny story behind that!! There was a post on simply groves blog about doing this and the traffic of mean negative comments was amazing.
I think it looks awesome

Looks really cool but I have to agree, not really practical if you actually want to read the books too!

neat, I like it!
I like color blocking the book shelves. Who would have the titles of this many books memorized!? I would be spending hours looking for instead of reading...

Impossible to memorize all the books for sure, perhaps they're showcasing 'it' as a piece of art sculpture~
It looks really good! Maybe we can see it as a symbol of written history instead of normal books to read. I wrapped our most ugly study books with paper so they didn't look so hideous in our book cabinet ;)
Very different but very cozy :)
Love it!
Christel,
I do the same with my trashy novels, especially when i take them during my flights(blushed*)
~Thank you everyone!
