Traditional Chinese Red

Over the weekend I managed to sort through more of my recent travel photos.
The set above were taken in Singapore Chinatown.
I think they're the perfect images for today, as billions of Chinese people
around the world are celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year all this week!

Traditionally, many people will be wearing red clothing during the festive celebrations.
Red is a very important color in Chinese culture; symbolizing prosperity,
good fortune and luck! Perhaps I should wear something red too, cos' I'll be facing the
angry boss yet again this week! errr...I may need all the lucks! {refer to my previous post]

To those who are welcoming the year of the dragon 2012,
Happy Chinese Lunar New Year!

Journey Home - Part One

Set & ready for the looooong... journey home ~yipeee!

see you again beautiful Singapore...

" Mr driver, no hurry...take your own sweet time pretty please..."
Isn't this the most beautiful highway?
Palm trees waving their goodbyes...plus, no traffic jam!

Singapore Changi Airport has been awarded the best airport in the world.
Do you know there's even a swimming pool for passengers to take a dip before their flights?

But I rather not get my hair wet!
I prefer to enjoy the beautiful orchids found in every corner of the airport terminal.
...and not forgetting all the wonderful duty free shop$ too.
BTW, the orchids are not plastic; no 'MADE IN CHINA' label can be found!

See you guys on board my flight!
[to be continued, a.k.a Part 2!!]

Chalkboard

The great thing about traveling is that everyday,
there is always something new to discover...

I was absolutely charmed by the illustration on this chalkboard!

I don't mind having it on my kitchen wall as an art piece!
Anywayyy...
stumbled upon this sweet dessert shop at the basement of ION Orchard in Singapore.
It's still rainy & wet outside, better spend my time wisely & deliciously indoor!

Journey+Observation+Discovery

I spotted these colorful balloons among the busy crowds...

so I followed...

...and followed to the street corner of Singapore!

errr-errr...
I just hope she wasn't too afraid of this curious stalker traveler?!
Anywayyy...
have you seen this beautiful LV campaign?
.
" a journey is not a trip.
it's not a vacation.
it's a process.
a discovery.
it's a process of self-discovery.
a journey brings us face to face with ourselves.
a journey shows us not only the world,
but how we fit in it.
does the person create the journey?
or does the journey create the person?
the journey is life itself.
...where will life take you? "
~*~

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have taken

Christmas in Singapore

Happy Holidays Everyone!
This is Orchard Road, the most famous street in Singapore.
At night, the entire stretch comes alive with spectacular Christmas display!
Another festive 'Falalalala-lala-lala' moment indeed!

...and so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it's been said many times, many ways,
Merry Christmas to you...
(I'm in the mood to sing & caroling!)

~Moustaches~

Albert Einstein
Hulk Hogan
Freddie Mercury
Mohandas Gandhi
Joseph Stalin
Pat Morita
Salvador Dalí
Super Mario
...this ad campaign is so Witty!
Each November, men around the world grow their moustaches in support
of a great cause! It's a movement created since 2003 by
the Australian organization " Movember Foundation".
The goal is to create awareness & raise money for men's health issues, in particular;
prostate & testicular cancer. The creative team at TBWA in Singapore, is supporting
Movember with their "Moustaches Make a Difference" campaign!
Just as every strand of facial hair helps spread awareness,
hopefully every dollar+cent can continue to help fight cancer!

Home Sweet Home ???

" Yikes !!! "
Hello everyone~ I've arrived home safely,
and this is what I saw when I walked into my home sweet home!
Oh dear...my home remodeling is still NOT done yet!
Contractors do speak a different language, huh?
When they say 1 week, I think they actually mean 1 month!!
grrrrrr...It's time for my claws to come out when I see them tomorrow.
(I'm dangerous like that!)
Anywayyy...
here are much nicer pics to look at!
Taken in Singapore Changi Airport, right before boarding my long flight home:
.

Lurrrve this lush 'vertical garden' at the airport terminal.
This gardening concept was made famous by French botanist Patrick Blanc,
which is still gaining its popularity in many urban environments around the world!

Last Minute Shopping~

So cuuute...simply couldn't resist!
Plus, I still have more room in my luggage.
These adorable goodies are not for my young niece,
but purchased for my dear mom!
She is still a huge kid at heart, I'm sure she'll lurrrve them.
It's been another successful working trip for me in Singapore...
Time to go home sweet home very soon!
But before leaving this country, one must still fill the luggage with more goodies, yes?
I'm going to slip on my comfy shoes & head straight to all the shops!
.
This is one of the busiest junction in Singapore.
Shopping area & entertainment hub are concentrated
Anywayyy...
I'm Signing off from Singapore for now...
Thank you for joining me once again for another trip half around the world!
Can't wait to fly home & see my loved ones!
Also, really excited to view the progress of my home mini-renovation...
as mentioned before leaving the States, my contractors
have started work on my town house. They should be done by now!
.
~XOXO*
