... There are neither Republican nor Democrat banners on my front lawn, just a pair of orange pumpkins & simple harvest decoration… bumper stickers on my car, NO thank you! But can LENORENEVERMORE talk a little politics today besides the frivolous things in life that dominate 99percent of this blog here… This election year is a true defining moment of recent US history indeed... it shows us how far this country had come and heading towards. Within our lifetime, it had gone from segregation to an African-American man running as a prime candidate for the presidency. Yes, race is still a sensitive issue…. There is the occasional ugliness of course... But I don't think any comparable nation has made so much progress in so little time….America is after all still a young country….a reminder that African-Americans were only allowed to vote back in the sixties… And despite the trenchant and sometimes belligerent tone of this election, I'm confident that we shall continue to come together...and hopefully vote & elect the right president. At times, I found myself almost like in the middle of a ‘civil war’ though and had to pick a side…The colors of red, white and blue are so far apart… The people in this nation are so far apart…I hear the war, financial crisis, joblessness, health care, faith, education, environment... discussed and debated with charged emotions…

As the ticker-thingie runs along the bottom of the television news screen, questions do run through my minds. What’s our role in this election? What would the future hold for this nation? For the past weeks or so, I was quite heavy-handed by the importance… can be quite overwhelming but really exciting time! ...then a big Ding-ding-ding! Yes, I remembered that this is my blog and I can do what I want… So here it is, “red- white- blue color theme” ! It's abundantly and visually and literally clear by now that I am not really into politics and most of you aren't fooled by my interest either. When I think about it, I don't really hate politics... I just prefer visual delights… call me shallow… at least I am honest, unlike most politicians… " GOD BLESS AMERICA "

... Halloween might be the ‘fun-est’ holiday for kids and adults alike….great opportunity to play ‘dress-up’ …be BOLD and freak anyone out! …looking forward to it all...hee! Every year, it’s a little different sometimes I have too many ideas... There is perhaps a crazy creepy circus going on in my head! So glad there have been a lot of visual cues and inspiration from the fabulous fashion designers…it’s no longer fashion though, but a fun and BOO!-tiful stylish costume! On a serious note; “Do we need to change our expectations and stop being slaves to fashion and consumerism…” The world has become a throwaway culture... I feel sometimes we need to ask some important questions instead of accepting this as part of modern life and fun popular culture/ holiday tradition…POP! A sobering thought I think… BOO!

.... The orange color is synonymous with Halloween, in this country at least... To some it's quite frightful and others think it’s just simply delightful…. a color that you either love or hate. Bold pumpkin orange always casts a bittersweet autumnal glow… it’s hip & hot… It's not just for Halloween… Wonder why orange; such an attention-grabbing color is shunned by so many? Perhaps it's the use of orange that might be quite 'disturbing'…Halloween reminder? ...I'd like to think more of the famous Hermes box instead...hee!

... Ahhh... the smell of leather... Forget smelling for a minute and take a look at Rosa Mosa, a leather collection designed by the Austrian designer Simone Springer and Japanese designer Yuji Mizobuchi. The two designers met when they attended The Cordwainers College in London. Sticking to their design philosophy of converging tradition with innovation, all Rosa Mosa products are made by artisans just outside of Vienna, using time-honored craftsmanship in creating contemporary items.

“We think ourselves as laboratory of playfulness and innovation, therefore we do not treat materials the way they are normally treated. We discard their function and disclaim their memories. What remains are the materials in its purest state, a sort of archetypal module or ‘ tabula rasa.’ From there we begin. Only this way we are able to apply our often unorthodox treatments. The results are multiple mutations, filtered and gathered. We experiment, innovate; we don’t follow fashion – we push forward," the designers explained during an interview with Fashion Window Paris.

They also said that the shoes are a little bit ‘raw’ and that's what makes them beautiful… Their approach is highly conceptual, very contemporary, achieving unusual effects with leathers and tweaking traditional silhouettes for a look that's totally modern... Nice yummy brown leather indeed...

... Coffee anyone? Coffee BROWN that is… the next color destination for LENORENEVERMORE. When people say something colorful they generally mean the bright primary colors; the blues, yellows, reds - bright rainbow colors - they seldom mean brown - but I'm here to sing praises of that color… (believe me you might not want to hear me sing…I ain’t Diana Ross! …hee!) What springs into our mind when I mention brown? To many people this means a piece of chocolate… dead leaf compost, or if you're being less generous or charitable, the result of something's digestive tract after it's been eaten then flushed? hee!!

Anyhow, hope we can take a look and you'll see the real beauty of brown subtle shades… rich aromatic coffee, exotic tan Tandoori spices, yummy European chocolate, luxurious sable, soft copper, russet auburn and sepia… how about pleasantly-burnt caramel… Personally it’s the olive browns & camel color that I would sing to! Well, well, well…doesn't that sound nicer than just plain brown? …a real beauty without a trace of rainbow on it… Let us embark on this journey and let humble yet rich browns into our life shall we…
