French History Lesson*

~this is "Marie Antoinette à la Rose", one of the most famous portraits of Marie Antoinette;

it was meant to counteract the scandal caused by the 'muslin' dress portrait, by Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun

... Besides reading steamy hot & sleazzzy Jackie Collins novels (ehem, don't judge!), I do enjoy reading other books (& sleazy gossip magazines!!) Over the weekend I was reading a fascinating book, 'Marie Antoinette The Journey' by Antonia Fraser. Thus, inspired me to do this very post. Her history still intrigues me... Anyway, let's watch a little fun Youtube~ shall we?

Happy Friday! I'm so glad the week is almost over

It's been quite a rough week at work, handling demanding clients have not been easy.

Must say it's hard to always have the 'customer is always right' -motto on my sleeves!

I'm sure I'm not alone here, really need the much needed rest this weekend...

The inverted Jenny is the 1918 U.S. postage stamp using image of plane Curtiss JN-4 and accidentally printed upside down. This is probably the most famous misprint in the world of American philately. One full block inverted Jenny stamps sold at auction of Robert A. Siegel in October 2005 for U.S. $ 2.7 million. And in November 2007 an inverted Jenny stamps sold for U.S. $ 977,500. December 2007 a mint stamps sold for $ 825,000.

The first two stamps of Mauritius (1847) are the first two series of stamps issued by the British colonial government. Only one left for first stamps in unused condition and three second stamp with unused condition as well. In 1993 David Feldman auctioned the Mauritius stamps of Hiroyuki Kanai produces the highest record. The first orange stamp sold for $ 1,072,260 and the second for $ 1,148,850.

The Three-Skilling Yellow, is a misprint stamp of the Swedish government in its first printing in 1855. Which normal postage only (which should be blue-green) also included in rare stamps. Three-Skilling Yellow is one of the rarest stamps and only one remaining. In 1984 a stamp was sold for 977.500 Swiss francs by David Feldman. In 1990 the sales reached one million dollars U.S. Then in 1996 sold for $ 2.3 million. And each time It’s sold always scored the highest number as the most expensive stamps in the world! [source].

Plus, I can lick it if I want to!

...This collection of hand knitted socks belongs to Abbey at Aesthetic Outburst. Her sweet grandmother is an incredible knitter and made every single pair you see here. I was instantly charmed by the idea that she took photographs of each pair! Anyone of you a knitter? Someday I'd like to...I heard it can be quite calming?!

How's the weather in your zip code lately? This year our Spring has been really strange... For the past few days the temperature has dropped by about 20 degrees°F ~again!!! Just hope this isn't another sign of the end of the world...errr-errr? O'Well, all I know is that I still like to wear my cozzzy + plushy socks at home~comforting! ... A diminutive horse born earlier this year in New Hampshire, could lay claim to the world record for lightweight foal. The pinto stallion named Einstein weighed just 6 pounds and measured 14 inches tall...errr I mean small! Those proportions fit a human baby just about right, but are downright tiny even for a miniature breed horse!

1917 - 2010

... Lena Horne has left us an incomparable legacy. Her talent, beauty, strength and humanity will be

a treasure to all she has touched. Breaking barriers and opening doors. She certainly has been a legend

long before her passing on May 9th 2010, at the age of 92 . ~R.I.P dear Lady!
