correction (past tense) = swallowed !
(gulp*) ~I sure did!!!
errr...still not a fan of raw oyster though!
But as you know, Jack simply had to fulfill his craving...
.
We were at this oyster farm over the weekend...
It was our first time there, so we were NOT really prepared at all!
.
Guess What?!
It's all about self-service there, meaning;
1.buy the oysters, 2.must clean & 3.must open the shells ourselves! ~Eeek!
My-my-my...must say it was NOT easy to do no.2 & 3 !!
As you can see, we used screw drivers (from our car tool box!) to open them!!!
So NOT glamorous at all! ~whahhh...
We thought there was going to be a full-service Oyster Bar in the premise,
you know...where we could enjoy ourselves without any harrrrrrd labor involved!
.
.
.
The Farm mascot & oyster tanks - 100 fresh oysters for US$ 75~great price!
yup, compared to any oyster bars found in the city.
But you know what...I'd rather pay an extra $75 for not doing all the 'harrrrrrd manual labor!'
[am I spoiled or am I spoiled???]
.
The scenery was quite lovely though~
This is where they harvest all the oysters...the beach was covered in shells.
[errr... where was the perfume spray when I needed one???]
.
It was certainly quite an adventure...
A perfect way to end the summer! {O' dear...I have just lied! )
~XOXO*

Haha- Great photos- I would not have liked the hard labor myself!
Wait, so you're a Californian? You are so chic I just assumed you lived in NYC? Or you just flew out here for the weekend? Sheesh you are mysterious:).
Ahh yes an extra fee is always worth less slippery effort on my part! Yum for your bounty!
Nice photos..Id rather pay the extra $ too....lol...glad you had fun!
Hahaa! This is awesome, I would've also liked someone else to do my hard labor maybe, but loving this adventure tale :)
beautiful shots!
love how you had the screw drivers in the tool box!!
xx

Thank you so much for sharing your weekend, even if it wasn't exactly up your alley.
At least they could have had a full service oyster bar alongside the do-it-your-selfer.
I'm kind of lazy too. I'd just as soon pay more and let someone else wield the screwdrivers and hammers!!
Well, we all learned some things through your experience. Don't ruin a good thing by getting too close to its origin.
I can just about imagine the dance my nostrils would have been doing if I'd been there.
Wow. I have issues with making my own fajitas at restaurants, let alone actually picking out oysters and cleaning them and opening them. Can I please get full service on a platter?
The trick is you must drink Guinness before, during & after harvesting, and then sucking down your fresh oysters. Call me sick but I love that smell on the beach. I know....
Your pup is so adorable. Hoping you didn't break a nail my dear?
Loves x deb
My bf would have loved that, but I'm not a seafood person.
i'll give you a tip next time you're asked to ingest oysters by the half-shell...
i do not like the consistency, and that is the main thing you notice with oysters, not their taste, necessarily, but my grandfather (well, he's like the guy my nanna married, but he might as well be) makes a sweet barbecue sauce that is AMAZING with like ANYTHING. well, one summer he put an oyster on top of a saltine cracker and then poured a bit of barbecue sauce on top of it and it was great! ;D
You are not spoiled, my dear... I would feel the same way (would rather pay the extra $) but the scenery I have to say is gorgeous. Looks like you had a nice time.

so much work for something so slimy? I'm not a fan of oysters at all!
But it looks like you had a lovely day!
Ewwwww! You can keep the oysters!! hahaha :) SUPER photos, though. wow.
Happy Monday...soon to be Tuesday.
Oh my that looks like hard work! I wouldn't like that part very much.. but then I'm not too fond of raw oysters so I'm spared from the labor! My friend has been to Tomales Bay before.. but does that mean you're in California? I hope I'm not getting excited over nothing =D
haha... I'm with you Lenore... I'm not a hard-labor kind of girl either. Manual or hard labor aren't me. I'm a horrible person. But your views are gorgeous!
I'm not a fan of oysters raw but it certainly seems like it'd be a fun place to people watch and just hang out! I'm a sucker for places like that.

Hehe yum oysters are delicious! Funny lil story. I love collecting fresh shellfish/seafood. It reminds me of breezy delicious summertimes.
xx
I love the feeling of a cold oyster slipping down my throat...yum! Although I prefer to get them pre-shucked. I've had a similar experience with hand-shucking my own oysters. It's not pretty.
ps
Are you a Bay Area person? Tomales is really close to where I grew up in Marin!
I love oysters, but I rather have them served on a plate with lemon, viegar, red onions and ready to eat as well :)
A friend of mine that work in a fancy fish store once brought some over but he was nice enought to open them as well and since he is a professional that worked out as well!
Lovely photos :)
I've never had oysters but I'm sure I'd rather go to a restaurant and have them instead of having to work for them!
Wow! Lucky you - hope all the hard work paid off and you had your fill. Beautiful shell strewn beach.. Wishing you another brilliantly sunny week xsx
Ack! I have never tried an oyster and have no plans on it either. but good for you for swallowing :)
Interesting photos!
♥
Your photos feed my need for adventure. You take such elegant shots.
I am not a fan of raw oysters either. I like mine deep fried :)
Oysters! My fave. Not a fan? Yeah, not for everyone. Plan to indulge in some of these on the upcoming weekend. Love you pics and just have to say YUM.
Looks like a fun adventure!!
I love oysters ...

I'm getting the impression that oysters are a love or hate thing.
I'm still not tempted though.

hahaha not a big fan of oysters so I wouldn't have the problem of paying anything extra :) but looks like a "fun" experience anyhow
Thank you everyone!
Jack owes me a manicure for this day!!
:)

mmmm....looks like you had a shell filled weekend! i never thought i could ever swallow one cause of their texture, but once it went down...it was DELISH!

What a lovely photo essay! Thank you so much - it makes me feel good about Summer being just around the corner! It looks like you had a ball...xoxo's P.S. You are spoiling us this week with all your glorious posts!!!
Haha, I'd rather fork over the cash, too, if it meant I could luxuriate and enjoy without exerting any effort whatsoever! Revel in your spoiled-ness, I say! Those oysters are little beauties, too. What a happy summertime adventure...
